The Titan begleri from Aroundsquare are dome topped, with a rounded bottom, and a straight, knurled barrel for excellent control and extremely smooth play. The Mini Titans feature the same design, shrunk down to a 16mm diameter (compared to the original 19mm for the titanium Titans, and 20mm for the aluminum version). The beads weigh in at around 9.7g each (compared to around 17g for the originals). With this bead design, the weight is enough to make them feel solid and substantial, but without any stress or strain on the fingers, even after hours of play.
The Mini Titans feature a slightly larger bore diameter than the originals, and slightly smaller than most of the 550-compatible sets we sell. This “Goldilocks” bore is not to big and not too small.. it works well with 275 paracord and does not feel sloppy, but it also works extremely well with 550 paracord. Provided your 550 cord is cleanly cut with a melted tip, it should be possible to insert the 550 without any special tools or setup, and a minimum amount of fiddling. Each set is pre-strung on a strand of 550, and is packaged with some spare 275 AND 550 in the box. The sets also come with a fistful of stickers and a canvas carry bag.
About the black PVD coating: Titanium can be anodized like aluminum, but the range of colours is limited, and the anodized finish is similar in durability to that of anodized aluminum. Physical vapour deposition (PVD) coating is a process that creates a much more robust colouring. In addition, because titanium is much harder than aluminum, scratches and nicks are less likely to show up. In general, the PVD coatings "age" more gracefully than anodized aluminum.
About the blue anodized coating: The anodized finish on these titanium begleri is reasonably robust. Because of the hardness of titanium, the finish holds up against dings and scratches better than anodized aluminum. However, the finish is not as durable as the PVD coating used in the other titanium colour editions.
